lets get rid of the fine arts program my kid need to take chrous in school for a full year for paden 150,000 and tucker 101,000 to teach them to lalalalala... what joke you want to offer a theater class ok i welcome that but to make kids take chrous what a job hey Mrs tucker....remember when the kids go on a job interview i am shore the person will ask them hey what did you sing in 9th grade.. because that will determine if you get a job or not..

Interesting so I imagine you compared the salaries and operating budget of the Fine Arts Departments vs. the Athletic Department. Let me pose this question for you how many students in the Athletic Program obtain college scholarships compared to the Fine Arts Program? In essence I am paying for a select few families children to obtain discounts on their college tuition? Allow me to make you face the music. If you made the argument that the programs should be "Pay to Play" then you would be making a intelligent argument instead of mocking the Fine Arts program. Extensive studies have shown that the Fine Arts students are commonly a higher level of intellect then compared to the stereotypical "Jock"

hey get rid of the sports to....I don't see any coach saying hey let me do it for free because the taypayers dont have the money.....they say hey pay me 5,000 extra for hanging out and doing nothing...

let me pose this question to you...Jeffrey.... do you thing that our fine arts teachers should be making 102,000 a year to teach 4 periods of chorus and padden making 150,000 a year...

I have no comment on the salaries although I see your caps button is unstuck and my name is Jeffery Lee get it right ! Although you can make the same argument for a elementary school gym teacher. "Pay to Play" make that your mantra.

TALKING TO A PAST BOARD MEMBER SHE SAID THAT THE UNION SENT OVER EVERY MORNING ABOUT 5 TEACHERS IN FRONT OF HER HOUSE WITH SIGNS AND WALKED AROUND FOR TWO HOURS....GOTTA LOVE THE UNION OOPS THE UNION FREE UNION FOR TEACHERS OF FARMINGDALE WHAT A JOKE... I agree Mr Foley makes 110,000 a year in Albany Ave schools and I pay him to take the kids off the bus everyday... what a guy.... Little Jeffrey...... Like I said 20 years from now nobdy will live here.... when your school taxes are over 10,000 a year... check at a article that was done in Newsday regarding taxes and how the school increased budgets by 2% and when they got the tax bill it went up 10% and every one points fingers at everyone else......

Now quit crying about their salaries you could of been a teacher and in reality it is all the "It's for the children" nonsense that allowed the salaries to be collectively bargained over the years....negotiations in the name of Little Johnny and Jane not Jeffrey Lee.

tanii just a FYI THE PTA TO GET MORE MONEY FROM YOU EVERY YEAR NOW IN ORDER FOR YOU TO GO ON A FIELD TRIP WITH YOUR KID YOU HAVE TO BE A PTA MEMBER..... WHO GAVE THEM THE RIGHT TO DO THIS

Dear Taxpayer: Here are the clues that I know:
1. I am not a teacher - never have been, never will be. 2. I am please to tell you that the approved budget, announced last night, for the next school year does NOT have any cuts to the fine arts budget - something that I am pleased to hear about. 3. You have NO CLUE what the benefits of learning music does for a student - there is solid documentation how these same skills carry over to many other disciplines. 4. If you have such a strong, uniformed opinion about the taxes you pay to live in this fine school district, I suggest you move elsewhere. The state of FL has low school taxes - but know that you get what you pay for. I'm told that the FL schools are awful. 5. In closing, I suggest you go back to school (like the wonderful Adult Ed program we have here in Farningdale) and re-learn how to write in grammatically correct sentences. Also, a keyboarding class would be in order as well. 6. Also, a reading course would be in order as well - my post above says nothing about theatre classes.

One more thing - I AM a parent of a child in this district and you do NOT have to be a member of the PTA in order to chaperone a field trip. That has never been a requirement as far as I have seen on any permission slip for any field trip. The PTA does not have anything to do with field trips whatsoever.
Do you even have any children currently attending a school in the Fdale district? It does not sound like it to me.

1. Rosemarie - is there any way to have the budget information posted on Patch? Not everyone can get to the meetings. Perhaps our friends here @ Patch can help?? 2. Can anyone tell me what the "other" line item for that $35 million is for? No joke, I really want to know.

A tech version of The Suggestion Box with a tracking feature to tally the number of views. Webcast live BOE meetings including a set amount of time to answer questions via network as in Remote Public Participation. Lastly, the 35 million could be for litigation that is attorney client privilege even though the taxpayer is the client.

Rosemarie just an fyi i have 4 kids in school in the district..... but your not seeing the whole picture the school board cant keep coming to the taxpayers for more money every year people are hurting alot of houses are up for sale in the area main street is hurting people arent spending money.....look at the freeport school district when times were good they got everything now times are bad the BOE wants the union to help and they are saying stick it.... who cares about the everyday taxpayer... as salaries go up pension cost go up and every year it will keep increasing..... and the reason why its a state mandate is because the UNIONS gave somebody money to put it into law......I agree with making a living but the salaries are out of control now.....so cut fine arts and cut sports... and instead of the teacher telling your kid to come home and vote yes for the budget so you can sing and catch... go back and tell your kid to tell the teacher why dont you reduce your salary and help the taxpayer so we can keep all the programs going in school...BUT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN....
