Fifth grade students from placed recently in Odyssey of the Mind, a competition that tests problem-solving abilities.
The students were divided into two teams, “Odyssey Angels” and “Weird Science."
Students Chrissy Gilleran, Hannah Fernandez, Mario Castano, Jeanette Jeavons and Genny Day were on the “Odyssey Angels” team and took third place for their performance on changing negatives into positives.
Students Gregory Campisi, Matthew Widmer, Alissa Kevan, Hannah Fernandez and Nick Demers were on the “Weird Science” team and won first place for their performance about a NASA scientist researching a series of mysterious events.
The “Weird Science” team placed second in the statewide tournament, which qualifies them for the World Finals in Ames, Iowa in May.
