School Notebook: Spirit Week, Pickles, Reminders

Fifth graders hit the sponges and soap for the annual car wash on Oct. 5 to help raise money for the fifth grade field trip.

The school also celebrated its annual Spirit Week recently. The week included crazy hat day, pajama day and a cage ball match against the teachers.

Reminders: There is a Saltzman East Memorial First Grade Gathering on Oct. 28, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. for S.E.M. first graders and their families. The event is sponsored by the PTA. The Saltzman East Memorial Halloween Parade is on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m.


Students at Albany Avenue Elementary School were treated to an upbeat,  assembly show when the six-time award winning drum ensemble "Hip Pickles" visited the school. Students heard music and lyrics that focused on doing the right thing, like working hard and treating others well and were given the opportunity to join the band by going on stage.

Reminder: Kids Stuff Entertainment Books were sent home on Oct. 12.  The cost of a book is $25.  The school earns $12.50 for every book sold.  This fundraiser will help to pay for all the Cultural Arts Programs that are brought into Albany Ave.


High School students celebrated homecoming week with a pep rally and . The homecoming king and queen were Micheal Rulli and Ashley Rivera.
