Since the announced that St. John Baptist de La Salle was one of the six elementary schools , parents have mobilized to save the school.
On Saturday, many came out to to send a message that they are unhappy with the decision. The rally began on the Farmingdale Village Green and parents and marched down Main Street and Conklin Avenue to the parking lot carrying signs urging the Diocese to
they hope the Diocese will ultimately give up the building, allowing parents to create a new education corporation to provide a Catholic education to Farmingdale residents and surrounding communities.
In reaction to the rally, that it was "a very difficult decision to close this school," but cited that "the review of enrollment and current and future demographic trends for school-age children [did] not indicate that a significant increase in enrollment will materialize" at the school.
