Week Ahead: Fall Events Abound; Yom Kippur

The first week of autumn includes a solemn holiday and weekend events.

Autumn officially arrived Saturday morning and was followed by a perfect early autumn Sunday. The week ahead brings the season into full focus around Farmingdale.

Week of Sept. 24, 2012:

1: Farmingdale Schools features a number of back to school events this week. Monday night is open house night at Howitt Middle School. Thursday is open house at the high school.

2. the most solemn day of the Jewish calendar, begins at sundown on Tuesday night and continues into Wednesday. Farmingdale schools are closed Wednesday.

3. The Farmingdale Dalers football team is 3-0 after their 48-6 victory over Valley Stream this weekend. They now look toward Friday night's game at home against 2-1 Plainview.

4. On Saturday, Stew Leonards begins a week-long celebration of 10 years in Farmingdale with special events all week.
