Alum Helps US Win Lacrosse World Championship

Midfielder Kelly McPartland was selected to play in the tournament held in Germany.

Daler alum helped the U.S. capture its fourth consecutive Federation of International Lacrosse U-19 Women's World Championship last week with a 14-11 win over Australia.

The team had a perfect 8-0 record in the tournament held in Hannover, Germany last week, according to Lacrosse Magazine.

McPartland was a talented midfielder who helped the Farmingdale girls lacrosse team . She is headed to the University of Maryland to play lacrosse this fall.

The U.S. team opened the tournament Thursday against Japan, before facing Canada on Friday then Australia on Saturday.

During the championship game, McPartland scored on a free position when the U.S. team was down in the first half, cutting the deficit to 6-5.

Attackers Cortney Fortunato and Covie Stanwick led the Americans with three goals each. Midfielder Tatum Coffey won player of the match.

"Just saying those words – world champions! You can't even get your mind around it and what that feels like," U.S. head coach Krystin Porcella told Lacrosse Magazine.

"It's just incredible," said U.S. team captain Taylor Trimble. "Turning around with the world cup and seeing everyone's faces was just so great."
