The announced Wednesday that all eight winter varsity teams have been named scholar athlete teams by the NYSPHSAA.
The New York State Public High School Athletics Association awards this honor to teams who earn averages of 90 percent or higher during the season.
According to the Athletics Department, more than 300 students participated in Farmingdale High School varsity sports this winter. The highest averages were girls winter track (99.73) and boys winter track (99).
This is the eighth consecutive season Farmingdale teams have earned this distinction. Last season the district additionally had four teams named Scholar Athlete State Champions, a distinction given to teams with the highest GPAs in New York State.
