An uncharacteristic 3-5 season left Farmingdale football out of the postseason picture a year ago.
While it could be another lean year for the Dalers, two factors play in Farmingdale's favor.
A poor 2011 translated into a low seed in Nassau Conference I. The Dalers earned the No. 8 seed in the 12-team confrerence. That means an easier schedule and a chance to rack up wins in 2012.
The other key fact? The coaching staff, led by Buddy Krumenacker. Despite a rare losing season, and is one of Long Island's most respected football minds. His 200 wins rank eighth in Long Island history.

The new season kicks off Saturday in Syosset, the No. 11 seed. The Dalers have a soft middle part of the schedule before finishing with traditional rivals Freeport and Massapequa.
