Farmingdale Runner is a Winner at Caumsett

Hundreds of national, local runners compete in Huntington.

A Farmingdale man took home one of the top prizes in Sunday's running events at Caumsett State Park.

Franklin Diaz of Farmingdale and Stefanie Braun of Dix Hills were the winners of the 25k run sponsored by the Greater Long Island Running Club.

Nearly 400 runners competed in the chill Sunday at Caumsett State Park.

A 50k ultramarathon drew runners from around the country, as well as several local racers, while others ran in the 25k race.

Joseph Gray, 29, of Renton, Wash., won the 50k race that was the USA track and field national championship run while Shanna Ailes of Kent, Ohio was the top female finisher in that race.

Gray finished only 14 seconds short of the race record of 15:05. Aaron Heath won the 50k non-competitive race.
