Farmingdale State Falls in College World Series Bid

Rams fall 2-1 Top seeded Cortland.

Farmingdale State fell one ninth-inning run short of their dream of making a run at the Division III College World Series over the weekend.

The second-seeded Rams came out on the short end of a 2-1 score, losing to SUNY-Cortland in the championship round of the NCAA New York Regional. 

Farmingdale State and held a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Frank Scarlato.

That lead held into the ninth as Cortland tied the game on a run scoring triple by Michael LaTempa. After a walk, pinch hitter P.J. Rinaldi won the game for the Red Dragaons with a sacrifice fly.

If Farmingdale had won, they would have had to play Cortland one more time in the double elimination tournament.  Coach Keith Osik's  Rams wrapped up the season with a 32-12 record.

Farmingdale's Ron Remi, David Zilnicki, Frank Scarlato and Matt DeRamo were named to the all tournament team.
