Dalers Beat Massapequa to Win Class A Title

The girls lacrosse team wins 15-7 in the Nassau County finals.

The goal scoring started early for the Dalers in the Class A Nassau County final lacrosse game at Adelphi University on Wednesday night. Junior midfielder Amanda Turturro scored two goals in the first few minutes of the opening half and the Dalers added three more by the 17:45 mark for a dominating 5-0 lead.

Massapequa finally got on the scoreboard at the 16-minute mark as senior attacker scored after driving hard to the crease. It was not as if the Chiefs didn't have opportunities to score but it was hard for them to set up a cutter through the stingy Farmingdale defense.

"We had a tremendous week of practice working on some of our defensive sets and it really paid off for us today," said Farmingdale head coach Shari Campbell. "We knew that Massapequa has a very explosive offense and our girls were really focused on both sides of the field tonight."

The Dalers held Massapequa, a team that has scored in double digits all season, to only two more goals in the first half. They limited the Chiefs to only four more goals in the second half.

Farmingdale, meanwhile looked like the offensive wrecking crew they have all season, scoring nine goals in the first half and seven in the second to earn the 15-7 victory.

"This was one of the girls' biggest goals and aspirations all season to win the Nassau County championship," said Campbell. "It is just a step in one of their accomplishments."

Next up for the Dalers is the Long Island Championship game which will take place Sunday, June 3rd at Dowling College. They will face the winner of the Bay Shore/Ward Melville game.

Hate to sound like an old woman, but when it was Von Leeson's it was always a joy to be there. AllRead More the staff had been there for years and treated the customers like family. Food was consistently good and they never "ran out" of anything. This place shouldn't be open for business. The poor kid waiting on us last time had to come to me and tell me they had no dessert to have with coffee other than ice cream. We left him a nice tip and I told him to find a job somewhere else; he'd never make any money there. It's a great location. We just need some smart business people to run it!

. This place is just not good. There is nothing appealing about poor service and absolutely horribleRead More food. It should have stayed closed when it went out of business not long ago. I hope the employees can find another means .
