Nine players have made the quantum leap from the NCAA Division III ranks to the NBA.
Farmingdale State center A.J. Matthews could be the next, according to Yahoo's Jeff Eisenberg. NBA scouts from the Washington Wizards, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers have arranged to watch Matthews play this month, the report said.
All Matthews, a 7-foot-1 senior, did was lead the Rams to a 23-5 season and the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Tournament last March.
The Skyline Conference player of the year as a junior, Matthews was tops in Division III with 27 double doubles (double digit points and rebounds).
