Rams Scoreboard: Women's Hoops Takes Sole Possession of Second Place

Men's basketball wins two out of three.

Women's Basketball

Farmingdale State 82, Purchase 55: The Rams used a 28-4 run late in the second half to pick up their ninth win in their last eleven games on Thursday. In the first half shot 13-47 from the floor for a four point halftime lead. Purchase would cut the lead to six with 12 minutes left to play before the Rams went on the monster run that put the game away. Kayla Koch again lead the team in scoring with 23 points and five steals, narrowly missing a double double with nine rebounds. Keona Jones had no such trouble, earning her second straight double double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

Farmingdale State 75, Old Westbury 53: The Rams shot 48 percent in the second half to take sole possession of second place in the Skyline Conference on Tuesday. Koch lead Farmingdale State with 19 points on 7-11 shooting to go with seven rebounds and five steals. Jones netted a double double with ten points and ten rebounds. The Ram defense held Old Westbury to 30.6 percent shooting for the game.

Farmingdale State 70, Maritime 62: The Rams (14-9, 13-5) squandered a 12 point lead with 7:34 left to play on Saturday, but responded immediately with a 10-0 run to take home the victory. Farmingdale State's defense clamped down in the second half, holding the Privateers to 8-30 shooting (26.7 percent) in the decisive stanza. Jermaine Abraham notched a double double in leading the team with 13 points and ten rebounds to go along with three blocks. The Rams hit just two of their 16 three point attempts. They enter the final week of the regular season in fourth place in the conference, and cannot finish lower than that.

Purchase 87, Farmingdale State 62: The Rams dropped a pivotal matchup on Thursday that would have placed them just one game out of first place in the Skyline Conference. Farmingdale State shot just 29 percent in the first half, where the Panthers took a 18 point lead into the break. The offense recovered in the second half, but Purchase shot a blistering 51.5 percent in the final stanza to come away with a 26 point win. Josh Smith lead the team with 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds. No Ram had more than one assist.

Farmingdale State 87, Old Westbury 70: The Rams had six of their nine players score in double figures for a 17 point victory on Tuesday. In the second half, Old Westbury had cut the lead to two, and then down to one with 11:44 left before the Rams went on a 15-2 run for a 14 point lead that they would not relinquish. Dyshaun Flournoy and John Dabney each lead the team with 15 points. Farmingdale State outrebounded their opponent 45-32. The Rams shot an even 50 percent for the game.
