St. Anthony's 2012 Football Schedule

Friars put 29-game win streak on line, open season with nationally-ranked Jersey power Bergen Catholic.

It's the most significant season opener in the history of football.

St. Anthony's finished 2011 with a CHSFL Class AAA title and a school-record 29-game winning streak, the second-longest in Suffolk football history. Longtime Coach won is 211th game in 25 seasons. That ties him with former Bellport icon Joe Cipp Jr. as the winningest coach in Suffolk history.

Enter Bergen Catholic. The Oradell, N.J. football powerhouse enters 2012 as MaxPrep's preseason No. 17 team nationally. The non-league game could be a historic win or mark the end of the bull run.

Whether or not the Friars can keep their win streak intact, the South Huntington parochial school is still the heavy favorite to win another Catholic League championship.

St. Anthony's (10-0) won its 13th title with a 14-0 shutout of Stepinac last November. The New York State Sportswriters Association named the Friars state Class AA co-champion

Athletic Director said the school will honor Reichert during the Oct. 6 rematch with Stepinac. There will be a ceremony after the game followed by a reception in the cafeteria.

Regardless of how this season ends, there will be plenty to celebrate.

Hate to sound like an old woman, but when it was Von Leeson's it was always a joy to be there. AllRead More the staff had been there for years and treated the customers like family. Food was consistently good and they never "ran out" of anything. This place shouldn't be open for business. The poor kid waiting on us last time had to come to me and tell me they had no dessert to have with coffee other than ice cream. We left him a nice tip and I told him to find a job somewhere else; he'd never make any money there. It's a great location. We just need some smart business people to run it!

The young man server was doing his best, but still eggs, potatoes, and hash, no potatoes come, begged for coffee refills, ketchup was the very bottom of a heinz bottle. The excuse was sorry we have a new cook,..something tells me that aint the only problem, how does one screw up breakfast. Sorry wont be going back any time soon, unless I see a new mngment or new owner sign.

. This place is just not good. There is nothing appealing about poor service and absolutely horribleRead More food. It should have stayed closed when it went out of business not long ago. I hope the employees can find another means .
