From Symphony to Funk, Big Week for Free Concerts

Five Performances beginning Tuesday as Town's 'Music Under the Stars' continues.

From an "American Band" to American Pop Standards, the Town of Oyster Bay's Music Under the Stars Concert series has a very eclectic week on tap.

On Tuesday night, '70s rock band Grand Funk Railroad, known for such hits as "We're an American Band" and "Some Kind of Wonderful" will take the stage at John J. Burns Community Park.

The Series moves to Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Park Wednesday  at 8 p.m. where the Nassau Pops Symphony orchestra will perform standards from Broadway, movies and television. Harmonica virtuoso Jia-Yi He will be a special guest that night and vocalists Jack and Ann Cassin will also entertain.

The next two days will be like a musical time machine as it will be '80s night Thursday at Ellsworth W. Allen Town Park, in Farmingdale. The tribute band Rubix Kube will play hits of the decade at 8 p.m.. Also appearing will be Lisa Lisa, and her her band Cult Jam, playing hits like "Head to Toe and Lost in Emotion.

On Friday, there will be two tribute bands playing the music of two great rock groups. The cast of Beatlemania  will perform the music of the Fab 4, while "Beginings" a Chicago Tribute Band perform  at 8 p.m.

The week wraps up Saturday with oldies as  Lenny Cocco & The Chimes, Tommy Mara & The Crests and Ahirley Alston Reeves, the former lead singer of the Shirelles perform.  

Both Friday and Saturday's concerts will be at Burns Park.
