Community Update

I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you and The Place Furniture Galleries for your donation and delivery of furniture to our new Downtown St. Charles.
Downtown St. Charles is an entire real life/real time setting with a bedroom and kitchen setting, roadway, car, gas pump and store all located inside (on our 4th floor) our hospital to help rehabilitate those in need of physical therapy after their life has been threatened by serious illness or injury. We even have installed working traffic lights as well; it is the only such center in the tri-state area. This innovative program will help patients make a successful transition to normal life.
In 1907, four sisters, representing the Order of the Daughters of Wisdom began a century-long mission of providing compassionate care for those in need when they agreed to provide shelter and care for 24 homeless, blind and handicapped children.
Today over 100 years later, the small original home sitting on the highest hill in Port Jefferson, Long Island where the four Sisters bought their young charges, has grown and been replaced by a state of the art 301-bed community hospital. We are committed to offering the most advanced technology and the highest level of health care provided with compassion, sensitivity and respect for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients and their families. After 100 years we stay dedicated to our mission as set forth by our founders, four devoted Daughters of Wisdom.
One of the most difficult items to acquire for this incredible project was the bedroom furniture and we are truly grateful to The Place Furniture Galleries for providing what was needed to complete our Downtown St. Charles.
A quick note about the couch and recliner; due to their flammable nature we were restricted from utilizing them in the patient unit but they’re serving a need in another non-patient area of the hospital. Due to generosity, we have opted to have the only furniture in the apartment be from The Place Furniture Galleries and would like to acknowledge your company with a plaque in the center.
Again thank you for kind donation we could not have accomplished this were it not for your kindness and willingness to help. We will forward you an invitation when the ribbon cutting ceremony will take place, hopefully we can meet in person at that time.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
