New Farmingdale Kiwanis Chapter Forming

Learn about the new group at an upcoming meeting.

The Long Island South Central Division of the New York District of Kiwanis International announced that a new Kiwanis Club of Farmingdale is forming.

The group will hold its first informational meeting on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Hardscrabble Senior Center (400 Main Street, Farmingdale). Light refreshments will be served and there is no cost or obligation to attend.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to enacting change in local communities. Area clubs are made up of people "who enjoy the fun, fellowship and networking opportunities that Kiwanis offers, while giving to our community and making a positive difference in the lives of our most vulnerable residents," the group says.

Kiwanis activities include community clean-up projects, holiday food and toy drives, sending underprivileged children to our Kamp Kiwanis (a camp in upstate New York), support of Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Centers, participating in the Salvation Army Kettle Campaign, scholarships, aid to families or individuals who need assistance, building ramps for the physically challenged, and numerous other projects, including a high achieving Key Club at
