No. 58: Donate During the Holidays

It's the next activity on our list of 100 things to do in Farmingdale.

It's important to remember those less fortunate year-round, but especially during the holiday season.

There are many opportunities to donate within the Farmingdale community. Groups are collecting food, clothing, toys and accepting monetary donations.

Food: operates a food pantry that several area churches support. The food pantry is accepting donations of nonperishable food items, personal healthcare items, infant formula and diapers. The office is located in the basement of the rectory (door is on the right) and donations can be dropped off Monday-Friday 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Toys: will be collecting new, unused toys to donate to Toys for Tots. and donors receive $2 off any open bounce session with your donation. is also collecting Toys for Tots in the month of December.

Books: Farmingdale eighth grader Katherine Pich by collecting new books for sick children at Cohen Children's Medical Center. Residents can donate the books for ages infant to preteen, both in English and Spanish, in green drop boxes located in both cafeterias at , the lobby at and the main office at The books must be new since they will be given to children with compromised immune systems.

Clothes: is collecting coats and thrift shopts on Main Street, like , and , accept clothing donations year round.
