Oyster Fest to Draw Thousands

Plenty of oysters, tall ships, and rides will be featured at this popular shorefront festival.

Get ready for one of the premier shorefront festivals on the East Coast this weekend.

The 30th annual Oyster Festival is this Saturday and Sunday along the waterfront of historic Oyster Bay. The event is held rain or shine.

From an abundance of food offerings to boat tours, carnival rides and craft fairs, this outdoor waterfront festival draws thousands of people, some of whom arrive via special LIRR trains to Oyster Bay Station.

Foodies will find oysters on the half shell, seafood sliders, oyster stew, bay scallops, clam fritters, crab rolls, lobster bisque, seafood gumbo, along with a host of international fare. And shell-fish lovers especially will want to consider entering the oyster eating and shucking contest

And while strolling along Audrey Avenue, be sure to check out the sidewalk antiques sale, chat with members of the charities that benefit from the Oyster Festival, and meet local shop owners. And be sure to hit up Shore Avenue, where you'll find the amusement park and arcade.
