Farmingdale State College is a campus of the State University of New York. The school currently enrolls approximatelyMore 7,000 local and international students and hosts a successful NCAA Division III athletics program. It was recently ranked among the top 100 public colleges in the nation in the earning power of graduates and offers 26 baccalaureate degrees and nine associate degrees.

The school has a long history in the area. The college dates back to the early 1900s, when it was known as the New York State School of Agriculture on Long Island (NYSSA). Since then, the college has grown significantly but has maintained its focus on technology. A new campus center and other additions will be opening in 2012.
