Fire Marshal: Garage Fire Accidental

January fire on Columbia Street is now a closed case.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal's office investigated a January fire in Farmingdale that resulted in one injury and a destroyed garage. "The case is now closed and fire was declared accidental," said James Hickman, the supervisor of the Fire Investigations Division. Village of Farmingdale Fire Department responded to the heavy garage fire on Columbia Street off Conklin Street at around 7 p.m. on Jan. 10. Firefighters were met with heavy fire coming through the roof of the 1.5 story garage and a man suffering from burns, who was transported to Nassau County Medical Center. As 2011 comes to a close, Farmingdale Patch is recapping the top stories of the past year. Farmingdale's three fire departments - East Farmingdale, South Farmingdale and the Village of Farmingdale - had a busy year protecting the community.
