Aerial Spectacular Flies Into Farmingdale

The excitement has begun at Republic; airbase to be home to an assortment of stunt and fighter planes this weekend.

A spectacular aerial display has begun at Farmingdale's Republic Airport with Wednesday's arrival of the first Canadian Air Force F-18 in advance of this weekend's Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach.

Flight buffs also had the thrill of seeing a WWII-era fighter performing test flights over the area. The warbirds are based at the American Airpower Museum on the grounds of Republic.

Check out these spectacular photos by Ken Neubeck of the LI-Republic Airport Historical Society:

We'll have more about this weekend's events later Thursday and throughout the weekend on Farmingdale Patch.
