Photo Gallery: Farmingdale Memorial Day Parade

Residents line Main Street to kick off the summer, and remember those who served our country.

Memorial Day. The unofficial start to summer, a day to enjoy the sun and fire up the barbecue. And for many, a day off.

Most important, it should be a day to remember those who died defending our nation. Around the Island, parades are held to do just that: remember, and to celebrate our freedom.

Farmingdale held its annual parade down Main Street on Monday. The weather was perfect, and folks lined the street to check out all the fun. Police and fire personnel, boy and girl scouts, and of course, members of the local VFW all took part.
